William’s Advice to Incoming 1Ls

William has posted some advice to incoming 1Ls. I second pretty much all of it, though I’m not a fan of Microsoft OneNote.

The only things I would add to William’s comments are: (1) underline, highlight, and circle in red the words, “a lot of people way over-study.” This is very, very true, and not recognizing it will cause you to stress out, then over-study, yourself. (2) Making your own outlines is very highly recommended, but start early! You will need a minimum of four full days per class to outline, if that’s all you do, but you want to allow plenty of time for taking old exams, taking study breaks, etc. Really, you should do this: every time you feel like just vegging in front of a Sox game for three hours (or whatever you veg in front of), outline for an hour, first. By all means, watch the Sox, but do not put off your outlines for too long, either.
