American Soldier
American Soldier
American Soldier is the memoir/autobiography of four star General Tommy Franks, the former CINC-CENTCOM. This is the story, not only of a brave man, strong leader, and fine American, but of the wars America has fought in and for Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. It provides a personal look at President George W. Bush and the First Lady, and a fascinating glimpse into the workings of the United States military. I highly recommend this book.
Mexifornia: A State of Becoming
Mexifornia: A State of Becoming
In Mexifornia: A State of Becoming, Victor Davis Hanson, a classics professor at California State University at Fresno, examines and exposes what is happening in California and the entire United States, as unchecked and illegal immigration overwhelms social services and the very social fabric. Where assimilation of immigrants was once the norm, our culture now advocates identity politics above the "melting pot" of old and self-identification above such old, non-specific labels as "American."

Silent Witness: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo's Death
Silent Witness: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo's Death
Mark Fuhrman, retired LAPD detective, knew something was wrong in the Terri Schiavo case. After Terri's death in 2005, Fuhrman launched a thorough investigation, not of her death, but of the events surrounding her 1990 collapse and the ensuing legal battles. Silent Witness: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo's Death is the story of his investigation.

Honestly, this is a hard book to read. It is well-written, but its subject matter is depressing. Still, whatever you think of the Schiavo case, and whether or not you agree with Fuhrman's reasoning, this story needed to be told. Above all, Terri's is a story of miscarried justice, in 1990 and during the rest of her life. The questions raised by Fuhrman's investigation should motivate all of us to put politics aside and fix the societal flaws that led to Terri's death and the politicizing of what was really a human tragedy and, possibly, a criminal act.
Unfit for Command
Unfit for Command
Whatever you think of Bush or of Kerry, this is one that all voters should read. Nearly all of the information presented is available from other sources; this book just puts it together. Find out:
  • Why Kerry??s claim to have served three tours in Vietnam is a lie.
  • Why Kerry??s entire chain of command opposes his candidacy for President.
  • Why Kerry??s picture hangs in a place of honor in the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, marking him as a hero of the communist revolution.
  • Why Kerry was so widely distrusted that one of his fellow swift boat commanders was afraid to travel with him - even in another boat!
  • Why Kerry has refused to release his own records from Vietnam.
  • How Kerry??s travels to Paris and meetings with the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese leadership - while he was still in the Navy - qualify as giving comfort to the enemy: in a word, treason.
  • Why Kerry lugged around a typewriter and video camera to record his war exploits, even staging reenactments.
  • That Kerry had a reputation for sleeping while on duty, hiding or flee when under fire, and incompetent command of his own boat.
  • Why Kerry was the ??Beetle Bailey? of the swift boats and was asked by his unit to leave Vietnam early, for everyone??s safety.

This man is not a safe choice for commander in chief.
