Missions are one of our greatest opportunities in this world - the chance to spread, peacefully and lovingly, the Good News of Jesus Christ. I have personally been blessed by the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time on foreign and domestic missions; though this is not my lifelong calling, God blessed me and worked through me during those times.
If you are a Christian, you have been commanded to be a missionary, wherever you are, whatever you do for a living. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20, NKJV). Go by Campus Crusade for Christ (U.S. site), Youth With a Mission, the Southern Baptist International Mission Board, or Arab World Ministries, and pray about where God might want to use you - He can use you, you know... You also might pray about your involvement in other ways: supporting missionaries in the field, joining a prayer team, or launching a missions focus at your church.
I also recommend reading the Millennial Pledge, a challenge to commit to personal service [Note: the site mentioned in this file, thepledge.org, no longer exists. Go here for more information, instead].
Unfortunately, for the safety of those in the field, I cannot elaborate about my own missions experiences on the web. I can say that I have spent time in Mexico, Florida, and a total of four continents, and have been blessed by and grown through every minute, even at the worst of times. I would love to share more with you individually; please contact me to learn about my experiences!
